Climatological study of the heavy precipitation around the Nobi plain in summer.

In this study, a statistical analysis of heavy precipitations in the Nobi plane for 2002 to 2009 was conducted using a high spatial and time resolution rain gauge network. The results are as follows.
(1) The days observed heavy precipitations (≧10 mm/hour) at the north and north-east mountains near the Nobi plane is more than that in the other area of the plane and surroundings.
(2) The frequency observed heavy precipitations in the Nobi plane is more than that at the coast of Aichi.
(3) The maximum value of the heavy precipitation frequency at the north and north-east mountains near the Nobi plane exists for 15:00 to 18:00. However, unlike the Kanto planes, the diurnal variation of the heavy precipitation frequency is not seen in the Nobi plane.
(4) On the days observed heavy precipitations, the atmosphere around the Nobi plain is more unstable than that of the days not observed heavy precipitations.
